Aromatic herbs including chervil, thyme and bay leaf bring a subtle green freshness, joined by blackcurrant leaf and delicate notes of lilac, lily of the valley and lemon blossom. The palate is lively and finely textured, with citrus carrying through to a long, saline and beautifully balanced finish.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eY is the dry white wine of Château d’Yquem, first created in 1959 as another expression of the estate’s remarkable Sauternes terroir. There are no vineyards specifically set aside for Y; its grapes come from the same vines as Château d’Yquem and are harvested with the same exacting approach, through successive selections of individual bunches. Just-ripe Sauvignon Blanc provides acidity and freshness, while riper Sémillon, sometimes showing the very beginnings of noble rot, contributes texture and complexity.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe cool, wet conditions of 2024 made timing particularly important, with harvesting beginning on 20 August, ahead of heavy rain at the end of the month.
