Chateau Angelus
Nestled in a natural amphitheatre beneath the slopes of Saint-Émilion, Château Angélus is one of Bordeaux’s most recognisable estates—both for the chime of its name and the resonance of its wines. This is a place where heritage and emotion intertwine, where every vintage is not simply produced, but composed.
Owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for eight generations, Angélus is more than an estate—it is a legacy of precision, adaptation, and deep respect for land and lineage. Its vineyards lie in a coveted zone where limestone from the plateau meets clay-rich soils below, allowing Merlot and Cabernet Franc to thrive in harmony. These natural contrasts are echoed in the wines: power and grace, depth and lift, tradition and innovation.
From early on, the estate broke convention—elevating the role of Cabernet Franc, modernising viticulture, and embracing architectural and aesthetic renewal. Under the guidance of Hubert de Boüard and now his daughter Stéphanie, Angélus continues to evolve while remaining rooted in its values: family, place, and purity of expression.
The bell, a symbol drawn from the angelus prayer that once rang through the surrounding vineyards, is more than a visual signature. It represents time, reverence, and connection—a quiet call to pause and appreciate something enduring.
Château Angélus is not just a grand name of Bordeaux—it is a voice. Distinct, expressive, and unmistakably its own.
