Chateau de Beaucastel
Located in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in France's Southern Rhône Valley, Château de Beaucastel is one of the region's most celebrated wine estates, with a history stretching back to 1549. Its story began when Pierre de Beaucastel acquired land near Courthézon, where a manor house was later built bearing the family's coat of arms. Over the centuries, the property developed into a distinguished wine estate, becoming an important part of the region's winemaking heritage.
A defining chapter began in 1909 when Pierre Tramier acquired the estate, later passing it to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin. Under the guidance of the Perrin family, particularly Jacques Perrin, Beaucastel gained international recognition for its quality and distinctive approach to winemaking. Today, the fifth generation continues the family tradition, bringing together generations of experience with a shared passion for the land.
Château de Beaucastel has long been recognised for its pioneering approach to sustainable viticulture. The Perrin family introduced organic farming practices in the 1950s and embraced biodynamic methods in 1974, well ahead of their time. Their philosophy centres on preserving the natural balance of the vineyards, encouraging biodiversity and allowing the unique character of the terroir to shine through. The estate's distinctive landscape, with its sun-warmed rounded stones and Mediterranean climate, plays an essential role in shaping its identity.
Today, Château de Beaucastel remains a benchmark for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, admired for its heritage, craftsmanship and commitment to quality. More than a century after the Perrin family's arrival, the estate continues to balance tradition with thoughtful innovation, carrying forward a legacy built on respect for nature, family values and the pursuit of excellence.
