Set amid the gravelly soils and pine-fringed light of Pessac-Léognan, Château Ferran is a quiet beacon of classical Bordeaux. Located in the commune of Martillac, the estate dates back to the 18th century, once owned by Montesquieu, the philosopher and early champion of terroir. Today, it is under the devoted care of Philippe and Ghislaine Lacoste, whose family has steered Ferran for over a century with dignity, discretion, and craft.

The 19-hectare vineyard lies on a fine gravel ridge with deep clay and limestone substrata—ideal for both red and white varietals. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot share the land with Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Certified High Environmental Value (HVE), the estate prioritizes soil vitality and ecosystem health, integrating sustainable practices to reveal the delicate nuances of its terroir.

Each parcel is harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified separately in temperature-controlled tanks. Reds are aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months, while whites are fermented and matured partially in oak, adding subtle depth without compromising freshness. The cellar philosophy is one of transparency: minimal intervention, thoughtful élevage, and a clear line from vineyard to glass.

The Château Ferran Rouge blends Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure with Merlot’s supple charm—red currant, graphite, and violet tones are carried by fine tannins and a lingering mineral freshness. Château Ferran Blanc, a beautifully textured white, weaves Sauvignon Blanc’s brightness with Sémillon’s roundness, offering citrus blossom, white peach, and a whisper of toast.
