Chateau Plain Point
Perched on the rolling hills of Fronsac in Bordeaux, Château Plain Point is a historic estate with a story dating back to 1480. Overlooking the surrounding valleys, the château has witnessed centuries of change, from its early beginnings to becoming a respected name in French winemaking. By the 19th century, its wines had found their way to some of France’s most prestigious tables, including the Élysée Palace.
A new chapter began in 2013 when the estate was acquired by Chinese businessman Shi Yuzhu, bringing fresh investment and a renewed ambition to restore Château Plain Point to its former glory. Extensive vineyard improvements and the construction of a modern gravity-flow winery in 2023 have helped transform the property, combining centuries of tradition with a thoughtful approach to modern winemaking.
The estate’s character is closely tied to its remarkable natural surroundings. Its rolling landscape, diverse soils and position near the Isle and Dordogne rivers create distinctive growing conditions. Sustainability is also central to its philosophy, with practices such as horse-drawn vineyard work, seasonal sheep grazing and the preservation of natural habitats helping protect the land for future generations.
Today, Château Plain Point continues to build on its rich heritage, bringing together historic charm, modern innovation and a genuine respect for nature. With a renewed sense of purpose, the estate is establishing an exciting new identity while remaining true to its Bordeaux roots.
