Fattoria Selvapiana
Fattoria Selvapiana is one of the defining estates of Chianti Rufina, with a history that stretches back to the Renaissance. Located just outside Florence, the estate has long been recognised for its position in one of Chianti’s coolest and most structured subregions, where altitude and climate bring a natural freshness and clarity to the wines.
The property has been in the Giuntini family since the 19th century, and today is led by Federico Giuntini, who continues to build on a reputation for consistency and precision. Selvapiana has always taken a measured, thoughtful approach—focusing on vineyard expression, careful selection, and a style that favours balance over power.
The vineyards are set across hillside sites, where Sangiovese thrives in well-drained soils and cooler conditions. This allows for slower ripening and greater aromatic detail, resulting in wines that feel both structured and lifted. Work in the vineyard is attentive and deliberate, with an emphasis on maintaining healthy vines and expressing each site as clearly as possible.
In the cellar, the philosophy is traditional but refined. Fermentations are handled with care, and ageing is used to support the wine rather than shape it. Oak is present, but always in balance, allowing the fruit and natural character of the vintage to remain at the forefront.
Selvapiana’s wines reflect a clear sense of place—Chianti with definition, freshness, and quiet depth. There’s no excess here, just a steady commitment to clarity and structure. It’s a style that feels timeless, but still relevant, offering a more composed and detailed expression of Tuscany.
