Marchesi di Grésy
In the rolling hills of Piemonte, where mist clings to the vines and the rhythm of life is shaped by the seasons, Marchesi di Grésy stands as a quiet emblem of Italian winemaking heritage. With roots stretching back to the 18th century, the estate has long blended nobility of lineage with a grounded, hands-on commitment to the land.
At the heart of the story is the Martinenga estate, a singular amphitheatre-shaped vineyard in the Barbaresco zone that has been in the Grésy family since 1797. Over time, the property has grown to encompass a collection of carefully tended vineyards across Langhe and Monferrato—each site chosen not for prestige, but for its ability to express the soul of the region.
When Alberto di Grésy took the helm in the 1970s, he guided the estate from grower to producer with clarity and purpose, modernising with care while preserving a classical approach. His vision was clear: to create wines that reflect the elegance and structure of Piemonte, grounded in honesty and restraint.
Farming is attentive, never forced. In both the vineyard and cellar, the philosophy is one of gentle precision—letting the land, the vintage, and the native grapes speak without excess. The result is a house style defined not by flash, but by finesse: graceful, layered wines that reward patience and reflect a deep respect for tradition.
Marchesi di Grésy is not defined by trends or theatrics. It is defined by place, heritage, and a steady hand. A quiet standard-bearer for Piemonte—rooted in history, yet always evolving with integrity.
