Seña is one of Chile’s most iconic fine wine projects — born from a shared vision between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi to create a world-class wine rooted in Chilean identity, crafted with the same intent and refinement as the great wines of Bordeaux. Since its founding in 1995, Seña has remained a singular voice in South American wine: elegant, structured, and deeply expressive of its Andean origins.

The vineyard lies in the Aconcagua Valley, north of Santiago, on gentle slopes facing the Pacific Ocean. The soils are colluvial — a mix of clay, loam, and decomposed granite — and the site’s maritime influence extends the ripening period, preserving freshness and aromatic lift. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, with a strong emphasis on regenerative practices, biodiversity, and long-term soil vitality. Each vine is tended by hand, and yields are kept low to ensure concentration and balance.

Seña is a Bordeaux-style blend, typically led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Carmenère, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc contributing structure, spice, and aromatic complexity. Fermentations are carried out in small stainless steel and oak vessels, followed by élevage in French oak barrels, 65–75% new, for 22 months. The approach is meticulous and thoughtful — driven by intuition as much as technique, with each vintage shaped by the season rather than formula.

The wine is poised, powerful, and deeply layered. Aromas of cassis, black plum, tobacco leaf, cedar, and warm spices lead into a structured, mineral palate with fine tannins and persistent freshness. Carmenère brings Chilean character — herbal lift, graphite, and quiet heat — while the Cabernet core ensures ageability and elegance. With time, the wine gains in detail and composure, becoming less about power and more about presence.
