Swift Wines is a Hawke’s Bay project rooted in freedom, curiosity, and a deep respect for vineyard character. Created by winemaker Lauren Swift, the label reflects a personal, place-focused approach to small-batch winemaking — expressive wines that balance texture and precision, with an emphasis on clarity rather than control. Though the brand is young, it has already established itself as a rising voice in New Zealand’s new generation: thoughtful, grounded, and led by instinct.

Fruit is sourced from carefully chosen sites across Hawke’s Bay, particularly the Bridge Pa Triangle and Crownthorpe subregions. The vineyards are sustainably farmed, with strong grower relationships allowing Lauren to work closely with each block. Varietals include Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, Albariño, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé — each crafted in small volumes to reflect season and site, rather than stylistic formula.

In the winery, the approach is intuitive and stripped-back. Fermentations are spontaneous where possible, oak use is restrained and always considered, and sulphur is used minimally. Reds are handled gently, with partial whole bunch for lift and structure; whites are pressed long and slow, with time on lees to develop texture without weight. Nothing is overworked — the goal is to stay close to the vineyard, and to let each wine carry its own voice.

The wines are fresh, textural, and quietly expressive. Syrah is savoury, herbal, and fine-grained, with spice and mineral length. Albariño is saline, citrus-driven, and lightly floral. Tempranillo brings dusty red fruit, clay-earth tones, and a lean, food-friendly frame. Across the range, there’s a lightness of touch that invites reflection rather than insists on it — wines made with purpose, but without pretense.

What defines Swift Wines is not scale or statement, but feel — a winemaker’s sensitivity to place, rhythm, and restraint.
