Dom Pérignon × Damien Hirst has been revealed, bringing together one of Champagne’s most celebrated names with one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary British art. At the heart of the collaboration is the much-anticipated Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018, presented in a striking new limited edition inspired by Damien Hirst’s kaleidoscope works.
It is an announcement we have been eagerly awaiting – and a collaboration that feels particularly at home at Normanby, where our love of exceptional wine has always sat comfortably alongside our love of art.
Dom Pérignon × Damien Hirst
Damien Hirst emerged as one of the leading figures of the Young British Artists movement in the late 1980s and has gone on to become one of the best-known artists of his generation. His practice spans painting, sculpture and installation, with his Spot, Spin and Kaleidoscope Paintings among his most instantly recognisable works.
For the new Dom Pérignon Damien Hirst Limited Edition, it is the Kaleidoscope series that provides the inspiration.
There is a wonderful connection between Hirst’s kaleidoscope and the philosophy of Dom Pérignon. Both are founded on the idea of assemblage: individual elements brought together to create something harmonious and complete. For Dom Pérignon, that means bringing together the grapes and individual characters of a single vintage; for Hirst, fragmented elements are repeated and transformed into a unified composition.
The result is a collaboration that goes considerably deeper than simply placing an artist’s work on a Champagne box.
The Damien Hirst Limited Edition
For the 2026 Limited Edition, Damien Hirst has reimagined the historic Dom Pérignon shield through his kaleidoscopic aesthetic.
Look closely and the familiar shield hasn’t disappeared. Instead, it multiplies throughout the composition, creating the sense of movement and repetition characteristic of Hirst’s work. It is a meeting of heritage and reinvention – something that has long been central to Dom Pérignon itself.
Two distinct colour palettes identify the wines. A deep blue, intended to evoke infinity and spirituality, represents Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018, while a warm pink accompanies Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010.
And behind the artwork are two very exciting Dom Pérignon releases.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 is a particularly significant release.
The 2018 growing season provided an exceptionally favourable weather trajectory, with generous sunshine and sufficient water throughout the vine cycle. Early maturity in August gave Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon the opportunity to pursue greater minerality, fruit, salinity and tactile dimension in the finished wine.
It is also an important moment in the history of Dom Pérignon, marking a new chapter under Vincent Chaperon.
We are particularly looking forward to seeing how Vintage 2018 sits alongside the recent Dom Pérignon vintages we have tasted at Normanby.
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010
Alongside Vintage 2018 is Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010, presented in Hirst’s warm pink kaleidoscope design.
The Maison describes the Rosé 2010 as a very different expression from the 2018: deeper and more introspective, with Pinot Noir bringing density and intensity to the wine. Together, Dom Pérignon describes the two vintages as complementary expressions – one more solar and taut, the other more intimate and shadowed.
For collectors, the combination of two significant vintages and Hirst’s artwork makes this an especially intriguing Dom Pérignon release.
A Long History of Dom Pérignon and Art
The Damien Hirst collaboration also continues a story that Dom Pérignon has been developing for decades.
The Maison has worked with artists and creators from across contemporary culture, beginning a series of creative exchanges in 2005 that has included names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Lenny Kravitz and Lady Gaga. Damien Hirst becomes the latest artist to enter that dialogue between Dom Pérignon, art and contemporary culture.
It is a philosophy we particularly enjoy. Great wine is, of course, always the reason we are here, but when wine intersects with art, design and culture, there is another layer to explore.
Dom Pérignon × Damien Hirst at Normanby
The news is now officially out. The Champagne itself is not quite in New Zealand yet, but we are delighted that Dom Pérignon × Damien Hirst will be coming to Normanby.
We have created a pre-release interest page, where you can register for early access and further information as the wines arrive.
We expect considerable interest in this release, particularly given the combination of the much-anticipated Vintage 2018 and one of Damien Hirst’s most recognisable artistic motifs.
And While We’re Talking Dom Pérignon…

More details will follow, but for anyone who loves Dom Pérignon, these are three dates worth putting in the diary.
An exceptional vintage, an extraordinary collaboration – and a very exciting new chapter for Dom Pérignon at Normanby.
