González Byass
Collection: González Byass

The story of González Byass begins in 1835 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, when Manuel María González Angel set out to create wines that express the unique spirit of Andalusia. Early success led him into sherry production — a journey defined by curiosity, craftsmanship and innovation.

What started as a single bodega quickly grew into one of the most respected names in sherry and wine. The marriage of González’s vision with the influence of his English agent, Robert Blake Byass, broadened its reach, laying foundations for a business that would span continents and generations. Even though the Byass family left the company in 1988, the González family — now into its fifth generation — continues to steward the company with deep respect for its roots.

At the centre of the brand is Tío Pepe, the iconic dry Fino sherry whose distinctive bottle and persona helped define the house’s place in global wine culture. But González Byass is far more than its flagship: it encompasses a family of wineries and brands across Spain — from Rioja to Rueda, from Cava to Somontano — each reflecting its own terroir while sharing the company’s core values of quality and authenticity.

Today, González Byass stands as a family-owned legacy that blends tradition with thoughtful evolution. The company honours centuries-old soleras and cellar traditions, while embracing sustainability and innovation in vineyard care, winemaking and global partnerships. Its wines and spirits are enjoyed in more than 100 countries, representing both its historic Jerez heritage and a modern, global wine culture.

González Byass is a story of place and passion: a Spanish institution rooted in Jerez, crafted for discovery and shared around the world.
