Deep red and black fruits are layered with gentle spice in this fleshy, balanced Premier Cru Pinot Noir. La Micaude is a monopole of Capitain-Gagnerot, giving the domaine exclusive control of this distinctive Ladoix vineyard. Hand harvested and matured for 13 months in oak, with only around 10% new barrels, the 2023 combines generous fruit with supple structure and impressive vineyard character. A particularly strong expression of this often overlooked Burgundy appellation.

Micaude faces due south, after the geological fault north of which Côte de Nuits strata start to have an effect. A rich purple, very sensual., Much headier fruit, fresh cherries, still dark raspberry alongside, an excellent mineral note to the acidity, there is a lot more happening in this wine which is both more hedonistic and more structured. Drink from 2029-2035.
