Champagne 2018: A Vintage to Remember – Auckland 10 December

For our final tasting of the year, we’re going big: nine vintage Champagnes, all from the remarkable 2018 vintage.

2018 was an exceptional year in Champagne, producing a collection of wines that deserves the attention of anyone who loves great Champagne. For this tasting, Normanby Director of Wine Liz Wheadon has assembled an extraordinary line-up from some of the region’s most celebrated houses and growers.

At the pinnacle sits Henri Giraud Argonne 2018, alongside Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2018 and Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2018 by Jacquemus. We’ll taste these alongside Louis Roederer, Philipponnat, Franck Bonville, Pierre Bertrand and Paul Bara — nine very different expressions of one outstanding vintage.

The setting is equally special. We’ll be in the Gallery at Webb’s during the exhibition celebrating Webb’s 50th anniversary: a milestone vintage in Champagne alongside a milestone for one of New Zealand’s great auction houses.

This is our final tasting of the year, and one of our biggest. A spectacular line-up of 2018 Champagne, one after another, in a setting worthy of the wines.
