Medium ruby with translucent clarity, Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay 1er Cru Les Champans 2022 opens with a poised and layered bouquet—black cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and crushed violet, underpinned by fine spice, earth, and graphite. Sourced from one of Volnay’s most esteemed and steeply sloped Premier Crus, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (15–20% new). The palate is structured yet graceful—dark fruit, blood orange, and mineral notes glide over fine, compact tannins and vivid acidity. The finish is long, savoury, and floral. A powerful yet refined expression of Volnay—deep, poised, and cellar-worthy, with quiet intensity and noble length.
