Fresh green apple, ripe pear and bright citrus bring an inviting energy to this elegant Champagne, followed by delicate notes of white flowers, toasted brioche, hazelnut and gentle spice. The palate is beautifully textured, with fine, creamy bubbles, lively acidity and a subtle mineral edge. Hints of baked apple and almond add depth, leading to a long, fresh and savoury finish.

Produced by Henri Giraud in Aÿ, Perpetual Reserve 90-21 draws on the house's distinctive reserve wine system, bringing together the character of multiple harvests. The result is a Champagne that balances freshness with richness and complexity, offering a refined expression of the house's signature style. Equally appealing as an aperitif or paired with seafood and delicate dishes.

Critic reviews

James Suckling, 96/100

Pie crust, cedar, nutmeg, dried apples and pineapple as well as dried flowers follow through to a full body with a layered mouthfeel. Lots of tea-leaf, dried-fruit and apple-pie flavors yet tight and focused. Slightly spicy finish. 100% perpetual reserve. Pinot noir with a touch of chardonnay. Dosage 5 g/L. Disgorged October 2024. Drink or hold.

Vinous, 94/100

The NV PR 21-90 is such a gorgeous wine. The perpetual reserve back to 1990 yields a Champagne with gorgeous aromatic and flavor complexity, buttressed by the energy of the youngest vintages. Elegant and weightless, the PR 21-90 has a lot to offer. It's an exquisite Champagne from Henri Giraud. Dried pear, ginger, chamomile and crushed flowers linger on the bright, saline finish.

Wine Advocate, 92/100

A true perpetual cuvée, drawn from two tanks that nourish both Esprit Nature and MV, Giraud’s NV PR 90-20 was disgorged in May 2024 with a dosage of five grams per liter. Comprising 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, it reveals delicately high-toned aromas of golden apple and nutty tones, mingling with spice and beeswax. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, rich and vinous, with a fleshy fruit core supported by vibrant acidity, culminating in a long, saline finish. This perpetual reserve spans vintages from 1990 to 2020—hence its name.
