Straw yellow with golden highlights, the 2022 Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso from Tenuta Garetto opens with a complex and evolving bouquet of ripe pear, yellow plum, chamomile, and acacia, layered with hints of beeswax, flint, and fresh almond. Sourced from hillside vineyards in the Colli Tortonesi zone of southeastern Piedmont, the Timorasso grapes are grown on calcareous-clay soils that enhance both structure and mineral tension. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing on fine lees for several months, building texture and aromatic nuance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and textured, with flavours of quince, citrus peel, and dried herbs unfolding over a taut, saline core. Bright acidity and a subtle phenolic grip give length and persistence, leading to a lingering, savoury finish marked by stony minerality and a touch of honeyed citrus.
