Terra Sancta Mysterious Diggings Pinot Noir 2024 (750ml)
Terra Sancta Mysterious Diggings Pinot Noir 2024 (750ml)
Bright red fruits lead the way, cherries, cranberries, and dark plum layered with a subtle savoury edge. It’s lively and graceful, with notes of juniper, thyme, and a touch of spice that linger beautifully. The texture is supple yet structured, with minerality and freshness carrying through the finish. An elegant and expressive Pinot Noir that’s easy to enjoy now but will reward short-term cellaring.
Planted in 1999, the Mysterious Diggings vineyard sits at 300 metres in Bannockburn, one of the region’s highest sites. Six different Pinot Noir clones, sandy soils, and steep, north-facing slopes combine to create fruit that’s bright, aromatic, and pure in character.
The 2024 season began with excellent flowering and a generous crop set. An El Niño pattern brought dry conditions and wind, but the site’s natural shelter ensured steady ripening. A well-timed February rain and cooler nights allowed for a long, even harvest, producing fruit of precision and depth.
Made with minimal intervention and 100% wild fermentation, the wine was aged in neutral French oak to enhance texture and add gentle spice without overpowering the fruit — a transparent expression of site and season.

Incredibly intense aromas of cherries, strawberries, peaches, melon and fresh flowers. Medium-bodied with creamy, open-grained tannins and a juicy finish. Refreshing, vivid and vibrant. A pinot noir for today. From a mix of clones on their own roots planted in 1999 and farmed organically. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

You might be surprised, but our No. 3 and No. 4 wines – the Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py 2023 and Terra Sancta Pinot Noir Central Otago Bannockburn Mysterious Diggings 2024 – are around $25 (US) a bottle. They’re stunning wines… I visited Terra Sancta two weeks ago and the vineyards were among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, with organic and regenerative viticulture
