Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St Georges La Charmotte 2022 (750ml)
Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St Georges La Charmotte 2022 (750ml)
Dark cherry, blackberry and ripe plum bring a concentrated fruit character, complemented by violet, earthy spice and subtle forest floor notes. La Charmotte offers the depth and structure associated with Nuits-Saint-Georges, with fine tannins and fresh acidity balancing the richness of the 2022 vintage. Layers of dark fruit and savoury complexity lead to a long, persistent finish.

40% whole bunch vinification. The lowest degree in alcohol. A good purple colour, but a nose which clearly gives less. There is a fine deep raspberry fruit which absolutely fills the palate, then a fresher finish, after which the fruit returns. Very successful. Tannins on their way to full resolution. Drink from 2029-2035.

A fragrant style, with floral, sandalwood and incense aromas and flavors swirling around the core of strawberry and cherry fruit. As this red builds on the palate, a stony mineral accent emerges, as do supportive tannins and acidity. Best from 2027 through 2042. 50 cases imported.

This bright, fresh wine shows forward black cherry fruit with hints of violets and spice. The texture is light and elegant, yet the wine is not lacking in structure, and the finish is elegant and reasonably long. The grapes come from a 0.40-hectare domaine-owned parcel on the flat land at the base of the slope down from premier cru Bousselots; 40% are fermented as whole clusters, with just two punch-downs and a very gentle extraction to produce this charming wine.
