Champagne Philipponnat Clos De Goisses Rose 2014 (750ml)
Champagne Philipponnat Clos De Goisses Rose 2014 (750ml)
Delicate yet intense, this pale salmon-hued rosé offers aromas of apricot compote, raspberry, white pepper and honeycomb. A blend of 68% Pinot Noir and 32% Chardonnay, it reveals a fine, silky mousse carrying layers of spiced red fruits, light smoke and floral lift. Vinified from a saignée and disgorged in March 2022, it captures both the power of Clos des Goisses and the finesse of the 2014 vintage. Energetic and satiny in texture, with a long, spicy and graceful finish. Only 2,820 bottles produced — a rare treasure.

Evoking aromas of strawberries, red berries, spices, papaya, rose petals and baked bread, the 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rose is a stunning Champagne rose. Full-bodied, vinous and layered, it's concentrated and has a structured mid-palate, racy acids and a long, mineral, dense finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay was disgorged in March 2024 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage, with only 2,820 bottles produced. Undoubtedly, this is a gastronomic Champagne that could age gracefully over the next 30 years or more.

The 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is terrific. This is the second vintage where the Pinot component includes 30% Pinot Noir (the highest here) done with a light saignée (rather than blended in as still red wine), which results in a Rosé with striking persistence. Cranberry, white pepper, chalk, mint and pink grapefruit lend complexity. More than anything else, though, I am so impressed with the wine's depth and the overall direction for this bottling. What a delight. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2024.
