Domaine Parent Corton Grand Cru 2022 (750ml)
Domaine Parent Corton Grand Cru 2022 (750ml)
This white Burgundy opens with layers of ripe white peach and nectarine, followed by subtle citrus zest and a touch of green apple freshness. There's a lovely tension between fruit purity and finely-integrated oak, adding notes of toasted almond, vanilla bean, and a faint smoky lift.
Structured and mineral-driven, the palate is powerful yet poised, with chalky texture and bright acidity carrying the wine through a long, saline finish. Aged in oak barrels (30% new) and sourced from the only Corton parcel planted in Chardonnay, this is a rare and age-worthy wine from a domaine better known for its reds. Drink now for its energy, or cellar to watch the complexity deepen.

Prominent but not dominant wood isn't subtle on the equally cool, airy and layered aromas of wild dark currant, earth, the sauvage and hints of oak spice. The racy and impressively intense middleweight plus flavors flash focused power on the bitter pit fruit, youthfully austere and firmly.

The 2021 Corton les Renardes Grand Cru is de-stemmed with 50% new French oak instead of the usual 100%. It has a very focused and intense bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, hints of pain d'épices and bay leaf. The palate is well-defined, with fine tannins that are very supple and lithe, sweet and pure with a touch of white pepper on its discrete finish that has a very small attenuation. This is a refined Corton-Renardes. (Drink between 2025-2042) 01/23
