Jean Chartron Puligny Montrachet 2022 (750ml)
Jean Chartron Puligny Montrachet 2022 (750ml)
Pale gold with luminous clarity, Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet 2022 (100% Chardonnay) opens with a delicate, floral-driven bouquet—acacia blossom, lemon peel, green pear, and chalky stone, gently accented by almond and subtle oak. Sourced from village-level parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels (approximately 20–25% new), with lees contact and occasional bâtonnage to build texture. The palate is sleek and vibrant, showing citrus, white peach, and a touch of hazelnut over a finely etched mineral core. Lively acidity imparts lift and structure, while the finish is long, saline, and understated. A beautifully composed village Puligny—refined, terroir-transparent, and marked by elegance and quiet precision.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Villages comes from plots on the estate, augmented by exchanges on the negoce side of the business. It offers Granny Smiths and light limestone scents on the nose, though it needs more vigor. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite mineral-driven with a flinty, focused finish. Not a long-term Puligny, though it will drink well over the next decade.

Outstanding Top value. A more floral-suffused nose is markedly phenolic in character while displaying pretty spice nuances. There is outstanding density and intensity to the medium weight flavors that are also quite sleek while exhibiting impressive depth and persistence on the firm and well-balanced finale. This is an excellent Puligny villages and worth considering.
