Often described as a “baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape,” this is a wine that comfortably sits well above the standard expectations of Côtes du Rhône. Vibrant red cherry, raspberry and ripe plum fruit leap from the glass alongside cracked pepper, wild herbs and subtle earthy notes, giving the wine both freshness and classic southern Rhône character from the outset.

Beautifully crafted and full of energy, the palate is medium-bodied and expressive, driven by juicy red fruits, gentle spice and a fine mineral edge. There’s a brightness and purity here that keeps the wine lively and dangerously drinkable, while soft, finely woven tannins provide enough structure to give the wine shape and depth.

A touch of florals and savoury herbs linger through the finish, adding complexity without taking away from the wine’s easy charm. Produced from biodynamically grown, Demeter-certified grapes, this is an exquisite Rhône red that overdelivers in every sense — polished, vibrant and equally suited to casual drinking or the cellar for the short to medium term.

Critic reviews

James Suckling, 92/100

Well-crafted and crunchy, showing cherries, currants, peppercorns, stones and wild herbs. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and bright character, this is vivid and full of energy. Pulpy fruit, a floral touch and a lift of spices toward the flavorful finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.

The Wine Advocate, 91/100

The Côtes-du-Rhône 2022 Clavin evokes aromas of dark wild berries, licorice, violets, dark cherries and a touch of chocolate, followed by a moderately weighted, layered and juicy palate with a delicate and sappy core of fruit and a long, ethereal finish. Bottled in March 2024, there is no reason to wait.
