Domaine Parent Pommard 1Er Crue Les Chanlins 2022 (750ml)
From vines located near the Volnay border, this 1er Cru Pommard offers a vibrant bouquet of dark red fruit, sous-bois and rose petals. Medium-bodied and tightly coiled, it features racy acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, elegant finish. Lively and full of tension, this "Lafarge-like" Pommard captures both purity and structure, promising a rewarding drinking window from 2024 to 2036.

The 2021 Pommard Les Chanlins 1er Cru, from vines located on the Volnay side and matured in 35% new oak, has a very expressive bouquet with dark red fruit, sous-bois and rose petal scents. Very elegant, likewise the palate displays piquant red fruit and racy acidity; it's full of tension and vigour with a long, Lafarge-like finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2024-2036) 01/23

A cooler and airier nose features more floral influences, and in particular violet, on the mostly dark berry and oak toast nose. I very much like the texture and vibrancy of the delicious, if not especially concentrated, middleweight flavors that terminate in a youthfully austere finale that offers slightly better complexity. Note that this nicely persistent effort could be enjoyed young, but it also has the structure and balance to repay a decade or more of cellaring. (Drink starting 2031) 04/23
