Pale gold with green highlights and a luminous clarity, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret 2022 (100% Chardonnay) opens with an elegant, tightly wound nose—citrus blossom, white peach, almond husk, and struck flint, with undertones of chalk and subtle toast. From Chartron’s walled monopole parcel adjacent to Chevalier-Montrachet, the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels (approx. 25–30% new), with bâtonnage and extended lees ageing. The palate is refined and mineral, driven by citrus, orchard fruit, and saline precision. The texture is sleek and composed, with vivid acidity and a long, filigreed finish echoing crushed stone and lemon oil. A noble Puligny—linear, expressive, and marked by quiet grandeur and crystalline terroir detail.

01/2024 The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has a prettier, slightly more floral bouquet compared to the Clos de la Pucelle, a little more mineralité and tension. The palate is well-balanced with a silver bead of acidity, impressive tension and slightly more nuanced than the Clos de la Pucelle. Good race and energy in evidence here. It represents one of Jean-Michel Chartron's most promising 2022s

Burghound, 93/100

From a .99 ha holding that is no longer noted as a monopole on the label. A beautifully layered mix freely reveals its notes of mineral reduction, white orchard fruit, crushed fennel and citrus confit. There is a highly seductive inner mouth perfumed to the beautifully textured flavors that are blessed with an abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the firm acidity supporting the strikingly persistent and more complex finale. This overtly stony effort is excellent and well-worth considering. Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!
